Bardwell Valley, NSW 2207

A small suburb of southern Sydney in the Bayside Council area (St George region), created in 1996 from parts of Arncliffe that bordered the valley and creek — the name originally described the land beside Bardwell Creek in the suburb of Bardwell Park. Bardwell Valley occupies the creek valley where Bardwell Creek meets the Cooks River, with the 18-hole Bardwell Valley Golf Course across much of its area and parkland along the creek; the golf club describes the suburb as about 12 km south of the Sydney CBD. At the 2021 census it had 2,344 residents — 62.9% born in Australia, with Lebanon (5.7%) the next most common birthplace, and 52.6% speaking only English at home. It is a quiet, family-oriented, leafy suburb of low-rise housing on the valley slopes, close to bushland and river parkland yet only minutes from the T8 railway at Bardwell Park.

Bus route 473 operates through the suburb, linking it to Campsie, Rockdale, Earlwood and the Bardwell Park station precinct, while route 491 connects to Five Dock and Kogarah via Earlwood and Bexley North.

No school operates within Bardwell Valley itself, and the suburb is too small to host one. Children attend schools in adjacent suburbs: Bardwell Park Infants School (government K–2) in adjacent Bardwell Park is the closest infants school, while government primary schools in other bordering suburbs include Arncliffe Public School (established 1861, on the Princes Highway in Arncliffe) and Bexley Public School in Bexley (NSW Department of Education; Arncliffe Public School; SchoolMyKids).
