A hilly, leafy Pittwater-side suburb 31 km north of the Sydney CBD, bounded by Pittwater to the north, Mona Vale to the east and south, and Church Point, Ku-ring-gai Chase and Ingleside to the west. Bayview takes its name from its 'view' across Pittwater, named by Governor Arthur Phillip in 1788. At the 2021 census it had 3,807 residents, and housing is predominantly low-density: 56.9% of occupied private dwellings were separate houses. It is an affluent waterfront and bush suburb of family homes, marinas and yacht clubs — home to Pittwater's largest yacht charter fleet, Australia's largest yacht importer and a yacht share fleet — with the Bayview Golf Course on its Mona Vale border.
