Bradbury, NSW 2560

Established residential family suburb about 54 km south-west of the Sydney CBD in the City of Campbelltown LGA, part of the Macarthur region and lying immediately south of the suburb of Campbelltown. Formerly known as Sherwood Hills, it is one of the Campbelltown area's more established suburbs: large-scale residential development began in the 1960s to a plan by architect-planner George Clarke and was built by Lend Lease, and it was one of the earliest suburbs to underground powerlines, provide sewerage and design streets to slow car speeds. The suburb is named after William Bradbury, a local innkeeper of the 1820s–30s, and local folklore has it that Fisher's Ghost appeared on a bridge post here to show where his body lay — the creek that runs through the suburb is called Fishers Ghost Creek. At the 2021 census Bradbury had 9,433 residents with a young median age of 34, and market commentary describes a suburb that has long appealed to young families and first-home buyers, with houses making up about 84% of housing stock. Boundary amendments in June 2023 and November 2024 reshaped Bradbury's edges with Campbelltown and Airds.

Bradbury has no railway station in the suburb. Transit Systems runs bus services through the area, chiefly routes 885 and 886, connecting Bradbury with Campbelltown station and surrounding suburbs. The nearest rail access is Campbelltown station — about 4 km away and roughly 10 minutes by bus — on the T8 Airport & South Line; Macarthur station, the T8 southern terminus, is on Menangle Road in the adjacent suburb of Campbelltown, near the hospital and university precinct on Bradbury's north-west side.

Macarthur Square — the largest shopping centre in south-western Sydney, on Gilchrist Drive and Kellicar Road in the adjacent suburb of Campbelltown — sits just north of Bradbury, and Campbelltown Hospital is on Campbelltown's southern edge near the Ambarvale border, immediately beyond Bradbury's north-west corner.

Manooka Reserve, beside The Parkway, is the suburb's main public reserve; its surroundings were originally the Manooka Estate, which became part of Bradbury in the 1970s. Fishers Ghost Creek runs through the suburb, named for the folk tale of Fisher's ghost marking the spot where his body lay, and Bradbury's 1960s George Clarke plan incorporated open space and traffic-calmed streets. Suburb boundary amendments in June 2023 and November 2024 transferred areas between Bradbury, Campbelltown and Airds as estate-renewal boundaries were realigned, with Bradbury losing land east of Jacka Street, Tubb Street and Cartwright Crescent to Airds. The Campbelltown Hospital and Western Sydney University precinct immediately north of Bradbury continues to expand as the region's health and education hub.

Health is the suburb's biggest employment driver: Campbelltown Hospital on the southern edge of the adjacent suburb of Campbelltown is the region's major public hospital. Western Sydney University's Campbelltown campus (adjacent Campbelltown) is a major education and research employer on Bradbury's northern boundary, and Macarthur Square (adjacent Campbelltown) anchors regional retail employment alongside the Campbelltown town centre. Local jobs are based in Bradbury Shopping Centre and Bradbury Public School, with many residents commuting to Campbelltown and Sydney via the bus links and T8 rail corridor.
