Coastal suburb on the western shore of Botany Bay, 13 km south-south-west of the Sydney CBD and part of the St George area. Lady Robinsons Beach — 'Brighton Beach' to locals, known for its off-white sand — and Cook Park run along its eastern border, and The Grand Parade follows the foreshore. The suburb mixes low-density houses, medium-density flats and high-rise apartments with retail, cafes and restaurants, concentrated around the Bay Street–Grand Parade commercial centre. At the 2021 census it had 8,336 residents, and it is famous for its Greek-Australian character — dubbed 'Little Greece by the Bay' for the many Greek cafes, restaurants and businesses overlooking the sand — attracting many young and single residents to its beach-and-entertainment lifestyle. With its landmark beachfront hotel, foreshore dining strip and bayside events it also pulls a strong tourist and day-tripper crowd.

Transport
Bus-based: Brighton-Le-Sands has no railway station. Transit Systems operates all routes through the suburb: 303, 478 (Westfield Miranda–Rockdale railway station via Ramsgate and Brighton-Le-Sands) and 479 (Rockdale Plaza via Rockdale station to Kyeemagh and Brighton-Le-Sands). The suburb grew around rail: the line reached Rockdale in 1884, and from 1885 Thomas Saywell's tramway ran from Rockdale to Lady Robinsons Beach along Bay Street — electrified from 1900, taken over by the government in 1914 and replaced by buses when it closed in September 1949. Rockdale station on the T4 Illawarra line, about 1.5–2 km inland in adjacent Rockdale, is the nearest rail gateway.

Brighton-Le-Sands Public School — NSW government K–6 comprehensive primary school at 35 Crawford Road in the suburb (NSW Department of Education). St Thomas More's Catholic Primary School — systemic Catholic primary in the suburb, part of Sydney Catholic Schools and linked to St Thomas More's parish church on Bay Street (Sydney Catholic Schools).
