Buxton railway station (opened 1883, on the Picton–Mittagong loop line) is now a heritage station: the main line was deviated via Bargo in 1919, the loop line closed to ordinary traffic in 1978, and the Picton–Buxton section was retained as a heritage railway still operated by the NSW Rail Museum.
