Chipping Norton, NSW 2170

Leafy, lake-centred family suburb about 27 km south-west of the Sydney CBD, in the City of Liverpool LGA and wrapped around the Georges River. It is named after Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, England — the home town of William Alexander Long, whose 'Chipping Norton' homestead gave the suburb its name; the government bought his estate in 1919 and subdivided it into farming blocks for returning World War I soldiers. At the 2021 census it had 9,412 residents; 62.6% were born in Australia, and the suburb is multicultural with Lebanese (9.9%), Vietnamese (8.1%) and Italian (8.0%) the largest non-Australian ancestries, while only 52.9% spoke only English at home.
