Established family suburb about 56 km south-west of the Sydney CBD in the City of Campbelltown LGA's part of the Macarthur region, developed from 1976 when the 'Highlands' property was subdivided, with the first housing lots released in 1978 and further releases through the 1980s into the early 1990s. Its mineral-and-gemstone street theme — Emerald Drive, Sapphire Place, Tourmaline Street, Feldspar Road — records the suburb's naming, except an eastern pocket of streets that follow artists' names (such as Albert Namatjira) because they were originally Claymore streets, absorbed when the suburb boundary moved in 1986 after local residents lobbied to leave the adjoining public-housing estate.
