East Hills, NSW 2213

Small, leafy river suburb of south-western Sydney roughly 26 km south-west of the Sydney CBD, sitting on the northern bank of the Georges River in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown — the suburb covers only about 1.4 km² and at the 2021 census had 3,370 residents, 65.9% born in Australia and 63.5% speaking only English at home, with Arabic (5.9%) and Vietnamese (4.8%) the main other languages. East Hills railway station on Park Road is on the East Hills line and served by Sydney Trains T8 Airport & South Line services. It opened 21 December 1931 and was the line's terminus until it was extended to Glenfield on 21 December 1987; today trains run through to Macarthur, although a side terminating track (platform 1) still hosts one weekday afternoon terminating T8 service, and the station received an accessibility upgrade with lifts in April 2022. Buses near the station include route 925 (Transit Systems NSW, to Lidcombe), routes 922, 924 and 962 (U-Go Mobility) and NightRide N40 to Town Hall.

Schools

East Hills Public School (Lucas Road) is the suburb's government primary school — the NSW Department of Education lists it at Lucas Road, East Hills NSW 2213 (NSW DoE). The two government high schools that bear the suburb's name — East Hills Boys High School (1 Lucas Road) and East Hills Girls Technology High School (Lucas Road) — sit just across the boundary in neighbouring Panania and take local secondary students (NSW DoE).
