Ermington, NSW 2115

Riverside family suburb on the northern bank of the Parramatta River — the river forms Ermington's southern boundary — roughly 15 km (about 19 km by road) north-west of the Sydney CBD in the City of Parramatta local government area. At the 2021 census Ermington had 12,686 residents; 52.8% were born in Australia and the mix is strongly multicultural, with Chinese (18.2%), English (17.4%), Korean (7.6%) and Lebanese (6.1%) the most common ancestries and Mandarin (9.2%), Korean (7.3%), Cantonese (5.6%) and Arabic (5.4%) the main languages spoken at home. Ermington has no railway station of its own; rail access is via adjacent suburbs — West Ryde station on the T9 Northern Line sits just across the eastern boundary, and the Rydalmere stop on the L4 Westmead & Carlingford light rail line (Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1, opened 20 December 2024) is in neighbouring Rydalmere to the west. Public transport within the suburb is bus-based: Busways runs six routes through Ermington, including the 501 (Parramatta station–Railway Square), 523 (via Spurway and Bartlett Streets to West Ryde), 524 (via Ermington shops and Melrose Park, then the Rydalmere industrial area to Parramatta), 525 (along Silverwater Road between Parramatta and Westfield Burwood) and the 544 along Silverwater Road between Macquarie Centre and Auburn station. Victoria Road (A40) cuts through the suburb and Stewart Street/Silverwater Road form part of the A6 arterial, meeting at a flyover interchange on Ermington's western edge before crossing the river over the Silverwater Bridge. At the 2011 census only 16% of employed residents travelled to work by public transport and 66% by car.
