Melonba, NSW 2765

Melonba is one of Sydney's newest suburbs: it was approved as a separate suburb on 7 September 2020 and gazetted on 6 November 2020, carved out of the northern part of Marsden Park in the City of Blacktown, about 51 km north-west of the Sydney CBD. The name comes from the Dharug Aboriginal language and refers to a type of wattle found in the area. The suburb is filling with masterplanned house-and-land estates — such as the Newpark estate at the end of Elara Boulevard — marketed interchangeably with 'Marsden Park' because of the suburb's recent carve-out. The 2021–26 build-out has delivered co-located public schools, a Woolworths-anchored shopping centre and bus links to the rail network, attracting a very young, family-oriented population: StMate's 2026 profile estimates roughly 1,400 residents with a median age of about 31, and housing stock that is almost entirely new detached homes plus vacant land (StMate).
