Sydney's fastest-growing business-park suburb, officially proclaimed on 29 June 2018 from parts of Baulkham Hills and Kellyville, and home to the Norwest Business Park — one of Sydney's largest office precincts — plus a new metro station and a fast-rising residential core around Norwest Lake. Located 35 km north-west of the Sydney CBD, it doubles as the administrative heart of the Hills: the Hills Shire Council's chambers sit within the suburb, and its original Coles supermarket evolved into Norwest Marketown. Buses run by CDC NSW and Busways connect the suburb to the city (613X via the M2), Castle Hill, Rouse Hill, Parramatta, Blacktown and Seven Hills (routes 632, 660, 662, 664, 714, 715, 730) plus an N92 night service. By road, Windsor Road runs along the suburb's eastern edge, Norwest Boulevard connects the business park to Bella Vista and the Westlink M7, and Old Windsor Road links to the broader network.

Schools

Norwest has no school within the suburb itself — it is dominated by the business park and newer residential release areas, and its Wikipedia article lists no education facilities. Children in Norwest attend schools in the immediately adjacent suburbs, including Bella Vista Public School (K-6, Bella Vista), Matthew Pearce Public School, Crestwood Public School and Crestwood High School (Baulkham Hills), and Gilroy Catholic College (Castle Hill).

Shopping & Amenities

Norwest Marketown — the suburb's main shopping centre on Solent Circuit featuring a Coles supermarket and dozens of speciality stores, banks, restaurants and services — is being redeveloped by Mulpha into a larger urban centre. The Hills Shire Council's administration building and chambers are located within the suburb. The business park itself carries a full service layer — hotels and serviced apartments, gyms, medical centres, banks, cafes and restaurants along Norwest Boulevard and Brookhollow Avenue — and Hillsong Church's original site is in Norwest. Norwest Lake is the suburb's centrepiece — a picturesque man-made lake within the business park encircled by walking and cycling paths and landscaped public open space, with apartments rising around its shore. Fairway Drive Reserve in the suburb's northern residential area offers bushland and walking escapes. The park's waterways and landscaped reserves thread between office buildings, and the golf course north of the lake sits just beyond the suburb boundary in Castle Hill.

Norwest Precinct Plan — adopted by The Hills Shire Council in 2024, it forecasts up to 30,000 additional jobs and 20,000 more homes in the Norwest area by 2041, cementing the suburb as one of Sydney's major growth centres. Mulpha's Norwest Marketown redevelopment is among the largest projects: a 15-plus-year urban renewal delivering homes for more than 850 families, workspace for more than 3,000 workers, and a new town square, park, retail, cafes and community facilities, with more than half the site public open space. The 2018–19 run-up to the metro saw apartments and commercial retail built up around Norwest Lake and the old 'Coles Norwest' transformed into Norwest Marketown. New apartment and townhouse projects continue around the station precinct and the Balmoral Road release area.
