Quakers Hill, NSW 2763

Large, established family suburb about 40 km west-north-west of the Sydney CBD in the City of Blacktown LGA and part of Greater Western Sydney, colloquially known as 'Quakers'. The name comes from the Quakers Hill estate subdivided in 1904, and the railway siding Douglas' Siding was renamed Quakers Hill station the following year; from the 1960s the district's five-acre farms were progressively subdivided for residential development, and parts of the original suburb were later excised to form Acacia Gardens (1996) and, in November 2020, the new suburb of Nirimba Fields. It is a big suburb — about 9.2 km² — with 27,893 residents at the 2021 census (+3.0% on 2016), a multicultural mix, and couples with children the dominant household type, with 30–39-year-olds the largest age group. Agents and locals describe it as a peaceful, family-friendly and underrated suburb pairing post-war brick homes with newer estates, served by its own station and shopping centre (Homely; OpenAgent).

Quakers Hill railway station is on the Richmond line, served by Sydney Trains T1 Western Line services with about four trains an hour in each direction on weekdays; on weekends the T1 operates a Richmond–North Sydney service that stops at Quakers Hill every 30 minutes. Bus services are operated by Busways on routes 731 (eastern outskirts), 732 (west), 734 (northern outskirts), 745, 752 and 753 across the suburb. The suburb has seen major road upgrades in recent years, including a new road to the education precinct and a widened, four-lane Quakers Hill Parkway overpass giving toll-free flow between Richmond and Sunnyholt Roads.

Schools

Quakers Hill Public School, the suburb's first school, opened in 1912; two further government primaries — Barnier Public School and Hambledon Public School — were added in the 1990s as the population grew. Secondary education is split between Quakers Hill High School (Years 7–12) and Wyndham College, a senior high school for Years 11–12 that sits within the Nirimba Collegiate group alongside Quakers Hill High, Riverstone High and Seven Hills High. Wyndham College is physically located at the Nirimba Education Precinct on Eastern Road — officially in neighbouring Nirimba Fields since the 2020 boundary change, a five-minute walk from Quakers Hill station and still sharing the 2763 postcode (Wyndham College). Quakers Hill East Public School carries the suburb's name but has been based in immediately adjacent Acacia Gardens since relocating there in 2002.

Quakers Court, the Woolworths-anchored neighbourhood shopping centre at 168 Falmouth Road (corner of Falmouth and Quakers roads, around eight stores), is the suburb's main retail node and sits on the Quakers Hill–Marayong boundary (australia-shoppings; Woolworths store directories).
