Rouse Hill, NSW 2155

Planned, family-oriented suburb on Sydney's north-west growth front, about 43 km north-west of the Sydney CBD and 19 km from the Parramatta CBD, in the Hills District across The Hills Shire and the City of Blacktown. Modern estates of large brick homes, young families and high car ownership give it a classic master-planned growth-area character, anchored by the GPT Group's Rouse Hill Town Centre with its busy Town Square at the suburb's heart. At the 2021 census Rouse Hill had 11,349 residents with a young median age of 34, a median household income of $2,643 a week and 59.3% of homes owner-occupied. The name preserves the estate of Richard Rouse, a free settler granted 450 acres here in 1816, and the suburb was the site of the 1804 Battle of Vinegar Hill during the Castle Hill convict rebellion — the historic Rouse Hill House still stands beside the modern subdivisions.

Rouse Hill metro station on the Sydney Metro North West & Bankstown Line (M1) is inside the suburb on Tempus Street near the town centre, offering turn-up-and-go driverless metro services to Chatswood, the Sydney CBD and Sydenham via Castle Hill. The station and the North-West T-way (opened September 2007) were integrated with the town centre development, and Windsor Road bisects the suburb as its main four-lane arterial. CDC NSW buses connect Rouse Hill with the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Parramatta, Macquarie Park, Castle Hill and Windsor, while Busways services run to Blacktown, Riverstone, Mount Druitt and Castle Hill.

Rouse Hill Town Centre is the suburb's anchor — the GPT Group-owned regional town centre at White Hart Drive and Windsor Road, built on the old Rouse Hill golf course: construction started in April 2006, stage one opened in September 2007 and the centre formally launched on 6 March 2008, and it has since been progressively expanded around its busy Town Square and integrated with the North-West T-way and Rouse Hill metro station. Rouse Hill Village Centre on Windsor Road (opened 1999) is a smaller neighbourhood centre with a discount supermarket, specialty shops and restaurants.
