A coastal village wedged between the Illawarra escarpment and the sea — the northernmost settlement of the Illawarra coastal strip, about 59 km south of Sydney and 28 km north of Wollongong, in a small valley between Bald Hill, Stanwell Tops and Mount Mitchell, with a beach running between headlands and two lagoons fed by Stanwell and Hargrave Creeks. Transport
Stanwell Park railway station, right in the village (about 0.2 km from the centre), is on the NSW TrainLink South Coast Line and is the main public transport link to Sydney and Wollongong. Buses are limited: Transport for NSW services run along Lawrence Hargrave Drive, including a direct bus/coach connection from the village to Sydney's Central (about 1h 29m). Lawrence Hargrave Drive and the escarpment roads are the road corridors in and out of the village.
Schools
Stanwell Park Public School — NSW government K–6 primary school serving the village (school website). There is no high school in Stanwell Park or in any adjoining suburb (Stanwell Tops, Otford, Coalcliff), and Stanwell Park Public School is the only school in the suburb's catchment listing, so secondary students commute by train or car to high schools further down the Illawarra coast or towards Sydney (auspropertyfinder).
