Varroville, NSW 2566

Tiny semi-rural suburb of just 134 residents at the 2021 census about 46 km south-west of the Sydney CBD in the City of Campbelltown LGA's part of the Macarthur region, sitting on the scenic hills on the north-west side of the M5 South Western Motorway between Campbelltown and Camden Valley Way. The name comes from the 'Varro Ville' estate — a 1,000-acre land grant Governor Lachlan Macquarie made to scientist Robert Townson in 1809, later owned by explorer Charles Sturt, and by 1900 a leading Campbelltown dairy farm; the name was officially adopted for the area between Raby and Denham Court in 1972, the land previously being part of Minto. Today it is a quiet acreage suburb of hobby farms, equestrian and rural-residential blocks around heritage properties and two institutions — Mount Carmel Catholic College and the new Macarthur Memorial Park cemetery — and it retains the restored, National Trust-listed Varroville homestead (196 St Andrews Road) on the NSW heritage register. Varroville has no railway station and no regular public bus route through its rural core — public transport is limited to a weekday school service, route 4006, which runs between St Andrews Public School in the neighbouring suburb and a terminus on St James Road at St Davids Road in Varroville. The suburb's main road is St Andrews Road, which crosses the M5 to St Andrews to the south-east. For rail, residents drive to stations in surrounding suburbs: Ingleburn station on the T8 Airport & South line is in the immediately adjacent suburb of Ingleburn to the east, Leppington station — served by the T2 Leppington line and the T5 Cumberland line (Schofields–Leppington) — sits in adjacent Leppington to the north-west, and Minto station on the T8 line is a similar drive to the north-east. The M5 South Western Motorway bounds the suburb and Camden Valley Way runs along its northern edge, giving fast road access to the wider south-west.

Mount Carmel Catholic College — the suburb's only school, a Catholic co-educational Years 7–12 comprehensive college on St Andrews Road in Varroville, opened in 1986 as Mount Carmel High School and now serving parishes across Campbelltown, Eagle Vale, Ingleburn, Macquarie Fields, Ruse and Varroville, with the Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church at 193 St Andrews Road adjacent to the college grounds. There is no government school in Varroville today and no primary school within the suburb — the local public primaries sit in immediately surrounding suburbs such as St Andrews Public School in adjacent St Andrews.
